Stunning Canadian Mural!!

One of our talented artists, Laure Fournier, has recently returned from a trip to Canada, where she took part in the mammoth task of painting this incredible fresco, with the society, Murale Création, who are based in Quebec. It tells the story of the city of Trois-Rivières and took countless man hours to finish. It now provides a wonderful lasting legacy for the city and a great achievement for our own little Michelangelo! Well done Laure!

Tea is certainly not on the agenda for Sophie Keen’s depiction of Alice. Here, she is a grumpy teenager, and not even the Mad Hatter and a talking rabbit can make her smile! Sophie uses her bold colour palette to dazzling effect perfectly capturing the strange world of the Wonderland. Click on her name to see her full portfolio.

AOI IMAGES EXHIBITiON

I spent yesterday lunchtime at the new AOI exhibition and came away uplifted to see so many fantastic and fabulous pieces of art. If I was to put my bitch head on there were one or two pieces that that left me befuddled - but overall I could have spent hours poring over the artworks....shame to have to work when art is calling.

Richard Johnson displayed 2 stunning pieces in the children's book section from the 4 that were chosen for the annual. In fact the AOI annual proved to be the stepping stone to representing Richard, as years ago I saw his work featured and sent him a fan letter .....the rest is history.... la di da.

I believe I have been getting the annual year on year and drooling over the pages for longer than I care to mention ... long may it go on.

THE ALICE SHOW!

Those of you movie buffs out there will probably have already seen the sneak previews of Tim Burton's fabulous reworking of the Lewis Carroll's classic, Alice in Wonderland, due to hit our screens next year. So we thought we'd pay homage to the tale and launch a competition for our artists to create their own imagining of Alice. So take a look through our looking glass and see what they've come up with in our wonderful Alice show! Oh, and artists, the clock is ticking and the deadline is looming, so don't be late for your very important date!

First up, Julie Pla has really gone to town and given Alice a deliciously grimy, modern update in her piece. Check it out and to view Julie's portfolio just click on her name below

WE'RE SO INTERNATIONAL!

One of the nicest aspects of working with the illustrators in our agency is the fact that we are so international. Everyone living outside the UK speaks excellent English and we feel ashamed that we probably only know 2 or 3 words of their language - quelle surprise!

Take a look below for the list of artists and where they live - maybe their local knowledge could be valuable for your next project? CLICK ON THEIR NAMES TO GO TO PORTFOLIOS

STUDENT SHOWS

Dave Bain

It's that time of the year when we are looking forward to seeing work by graduating students. The big shows have come and gone and the best students have already been approached by keen agents such as ourselves.
Some colleges, like Falmouth for instance, lead the way in having a fantastically high standards and we have been lucky enough to taken on board a number of their students who have gone on to great things. Our ex Falmouth alumni are DAVE BAIN,BEN MOUNSEY and MATTHEW WILLIAMS.

I'm going to be contentious here and say that a lot of other colleges just don"t come up to scratch and are educating students who will never have a career in our business - sad but true

FEEL THE FEAR AND COMMISSION ANYWAY!

Hey there readers
Welcome to our new blog where you'll see new work, pick up tips and hopefully learn what its like to work with us. We are experts at what we do and we love doing it, so glad to have you in our world.

Today's post is all about feeling the fear of commissioning and doing it anyway.

Have you ever wanted to dip a toe in the water and commission an presentation artwork but were concerned about costs and rights issues?

We understand that in order to get a client on board you may need to present a really finished artwork as part of your pitch. We have a number of illustrators who are happy to work to fixed day rate or job rate to provide you with the fabulous illustrations you need but without having to worry about huge usage costs.

If you need to know all the costs to apply these artworks to your media if the job hopefully does go live, then we can supply these in advance so you don't get any nasty surprises.

I feel that the more we collaborate with you the better the chance we'll all have to get those lovely clients to press the button. We have lots of happy clients who have worked with us in this way and know what good problem solvers we are.
